Lowy has won the war

Posted by cegan on October 26, 2017

Steven Lowy will remain the Chairman of Football Federation Australia after confirmation today that the Victorian Football Federation will vote with the Lowy regime on the 1st November.

While Lowy won, he has taken in advice that reform is needed.

New stadiums, new A-League club’s and a new business model will shape a new era for Australian Soccer.

The reforms offered will quel some anger within grassroots clubs. The question over promotion/relegation is still one that needs careful negotiations to ensure there is limited lasting anger from changes which may be opposed by some grassroots clubs.

It may take many years, but the game may finally come to terms with the diversity that shapes Australian Soccer. The voices of all may finally be incorporated.

This should be the objective of all involved in the game – heal the wounds and build the game up with the cracks sealed shut.
